No Leahs Among Us: Seeing the Unseen in Our Community

February 17, 2025

In Genesis 29, we meet Leah, a woman who knew what it meant to feel invisible. Her own father used her as a pawn in a deceptive marriage scheme. Her husband Jacob was forced to marry her and didn't love her. Her sister Rachel, Jacob's true love, became her rival. As far as we know, there was no one there for Leah.

No one, that is, except God.

Something New is Coming!!

January 2, 2025

Something exciting is stirring on the horizon...

I'm thrilled to announce a new project that's been close to my heart: a podcast that will bridge timeless Biblical wisdom with our modern journey. Along with some remarkable friends, I'll be launching "Old Paths New Steps" – a space where timeless truth meets contemporary challenges.

Walking in ancient paths with contemporary feet, we'll be exploring the profound intersections of theology, sociology, and science, all through a lens of compassion and hope. This isn't just another podcast – it's an invitation to join us in authentic conversations about trauma, healing, faith, and what it truly means to be human in today's world.

While we're still putting the finishing touches on many details, I couldn't keep this under wraps any longer. There's something powerful about bringing together ancient wisdom and modern understanding, especially when we're all searching for hope and healing in our own ways.

Stay tuned – in the coming weeks, I'll be sharing more about this journey, including introductions to the amazing co-hosts who will be joining me in these conversations.

Sometimes the most meaningful steps forward require us to look both backward and ahead. That's exactly what we'll be doing together.

Nazareth was the ancient equivalent of someone saying, "I'm from nowhere special." It was unremarkable by most standards, a place you'd probably never visit unless you had to…

When Christmas Hurts: Finding Peace in the Shadows of the Season

December 29, 2024

While storefronts gleam with festive lights and carols fill the air, many hearts hold shadows of grief that seem at odds with the season's expected joy. If you're one of those people for whom Christmas brings a complex mixture of celebration and sorrow, you're not alone—and more importantly, you're not forgotten.

There's a part of the Christmas story that rarely makes it into holiday pageants or greeting cards. It's found in Matthew's Gospel, where the joy of Jesus' birth is followed immediately by an account of unspeakable tragedy—Herod's massacre of Bethlehem's children. This darker thread in the Christmas narrative might seem out of place in our usual holiday celebrations, but its inclusion carries profound significance for those experiencing grief during the season of joy…
